Name: Alyson Edwards
Home Town: Fort Wayne
Major: undeclared
Grad Year:

2010

Why I decided
to attend MC:
The atmosphere that the faculty and students create really makes campus welcoming.  The attentiveness, caring, and knowledge that the professors displayed really sealed the deal.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I love how diverse the people are, not only racially and politically but in interest areas. I like the fact that I can have a group of friends that debate the meaning of life and a group that dance all night, and that the groups will intermingle enthusiastically.
I never expected: Two of my friends and I dressed up in eighties clothes and started a dance party in every dorm.
At Manchester
College, I found:
Passion.  People here love what they do, and it shows. It comes through in every program; the staff is passionate about their subjects, the students are passionate about the opportunies the college experience provides, and everyone is passionate about the college itself.

Major: Accounting and Economics
Grad Year:

Why I decided
to attend MC:
I wanted to go to a place where nobody knew my name. Coming to Manchester has forced me to go out of my comfort zone and test the waters. It allowed me to start over and be who I wanted to be.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
The people are by far my most favorite thing at Manchester. The people I have met have left a deep impression on me. It has been amazing how accepting and friendly people can be.
I never expected: I went to a large scale war protest in Washington D.C.
At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester College, I found eye opening experiences. I came to Manchester College fairly ignorant on issues involving the war, civil rights in today's society, the environment, and religion. From discussions in classes, organizations, and groups of friends, I have acquired more of an understanding of issues that affect me.

I knew coming here I could push myself to become a better student-athlete. Plus the recruiting staff wouldn’t leave me alone, but once I came to campus for a visit, I fell in love with the campus.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
There is a very strong sense of community here, partly because it isn’t huge.

I decided to attend Manchester because I really enjoyed the campus size, the tennis program, and my high school friend was attending as well!
My favorite things
about Manchester:
My favorite thing about being an MC student is the attention I receive from the professors and staff members. If I have a problem outside of class, I know my professor will be able to answer my questions.

Name: Carol Fike
Home Town: Polo / Pearl CIty Illinois
Major: Elementary Education with Mild Interventions
Grad Year:

2010

Why I decided
to attend MC:
I am Church of the Brethren and decided that I wanted to attend a Church of the Brethren school.  The funny thing was I had already applied at another Church of the Brethren school, then I took a tour of this campus and I really liked it.  I immediately applied here and did not even finish my other application.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I really like all of the people that I have met here.  There is a super tight community anywhere you go. I have some of the best firends in the world here. They are constantly there for me and listen when I need to talk. I also love the faculty and staff, when you do not do well on a test or you need help they are always there to help me recover.
I never expected: I never expected to go to a club Halloween party dressed as a mime and make so many peoples night. This included our guests that were mentally and physically handicapped. And seeing their joy even though we didn't talk. We just danced with them and had a lot of fun. Seeing several of them go from shy to outgoing in one night. I also never thought that I would be working part time in the campus chapel. Helping to make the transition for a new campus pastor.
At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester College, I found community.  I found a place where I can belong in this time in my life.  I am trying to take that next step.  And I have found all of these people to back me up.  And this isn't only the students.  The faculty and staff are also amazing.  The people that work in the Union come up to you and make sure that you are warm enough when going outside.  My FYC advisor has done so much; he has taught us how to do everything that you could ever think of.  And finally the faculty are pretty awesome when they give you a syllabus at the beginning of the year with their home phone number on there.  They work so hard and are amazing. I also now can see the day that I have my own classroom and making my dream of being a teacher a reality.

Name: Amanda Foust
Home Town: North Manchester, IN
Major: Chem major
Grad Year:

2010

Why I decided
to attend MC:
Starting an education after being out of high school for 11 years was a big step for me.  I have a husband and a 3 year old son.  I live in N. Manchester, so location was a big factor for me.  Also, the school's reputation makes me proud to be a student here.  Job placement success is also a huge issue for me.  If I am going to get a great education, I want and need to be able to financially assist my family when it's all said and done!
My favorite things
about Manchester:
The challenge of it all!  Each day brings new headaches and worries, but when I work through them...it's all worth it.
I never expected: JUST BEING HERE!  I never thought I would be a college student!
At Manchester
College, I found:
I found a new person -- myself.
Name: Chris Frankum
Home Town: Peru, IN
Major: Accounting
Grad Year:

2008

Why I decided
to attend MC:
I had tried a big school and a commuter school. I wanted something smaller where I could get the college experience.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
The friends that I have made. They’re awesome
I never expected: Make so many friends. At the other schools it was so hard to meet people, but everyone at MC is extremely nice.
At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester College, I found the right place for me. This is the third school I have gone to and I am so glad I chose it. I was tired of being at a huge school where the teachers didn’t care and it was hard to make friends. I also didn’t like the extremely small school setting where everyone there was 20 years older then me.
